Entandrophragma cylindricum is a tree of the genus Entandrophragma of the family Meliaceae. It is commonly known as sapelli or sapele mahogany, as well as aboudikro, assi, undianuno and muyovu.
*Because wood is a natural product, each piece is unique and will vary.

Uses
Sapele has a slight blunting effect on cutters, but it turns, glues, and finishes well. Common uses for Sapele are veneer, plywood, furniture, cabinetry, flooring, boatbuilding, musical instruments, turned objects, and other small wooden speciality items.
Characteristics
Sapele is a golden to dark reddish-brown. Colour tends to darken with age. Besides the common ribbon pattern seen on quarter sawn boards, Sapele is also known for a wide variety of other figured grain patterns, such as pommele, quilted, mottled, wavy, beeswing, and fiddleback. It has a distinct, cedar-like scent while being worked.
